Note from the Artist:
"This Mountain Violet (aka Viola purpurea) was found in the path on the hillside below the studio. Knowing that it was likely to become trod upon, I immortalized it in this print. These cheerful, but tiny blooms come out as early as February and in an abundant rain year, I find some still blooming as late as June! They appear as bright spots of color in the low grass of our Mediterranean climate winter and each year I look for them as harbingers of Springtime. Though this lovely flower is found throughout the West, I consider it special if only for that reason alone. This is the 4th Herbarium Series print."
