Wander

Sale price$750.00

21.5 x 13.5 inches

Note from Artist:

The Eastern Sierra holds a secret and magical landscape, known only to a relative few of California’s residents and visitors, yet it is one of my favorite areas to play in a state known for its beauty and diverse habitat. Wildflowers persist into late Summer and mid-Fall, towering peaks of granite with jagged ribbons of color line every trail. The sparse and somewhat tortured forests of pine, fir, juniper and aspens are endlessly fascinating and so different from their more densely packed and lush counterparts on the western slopes. As the crow flies, this landscape is only 40 miles (65 km) away from the studio, but takes 4 hours of driving IF the pass over the mountains through Yosemite is open (late spring to Fall). The Summer temps on the East Side are 20 degrees cooler, which doesn’t hurt its appeal! In fact, I had a long list of possible, complicated names and chose "Wander" as the most appropriate: I had just happened to randomly pick a trail I had never tired before and just wandered into the Wilderness - the best way to choose a day hike IMHO!

“As an artist who deeply appreciates detail, I always strive for simplicity. I find that I often land somewhere in between, hopefully capturing the essence of the scene, flower, or creature at the heart of the work. I enjoy drilling down into my subjects and learning from each experience, and my goal is to pass on that same sense of discovery and wonder through every piece I create.”
