WHERE THERE IS NO PATH
Ben Roth and Jake Davis

Artist Reception November 30th, 2018
Jake is a photographer and Ben is a sculptor, but their common thread is their originality. They are both trailblazers who pioneer new territory in their respective mediums. The result is work unlike anything else. This exhibition is a rare opportunity to experience bold creative expression born of both risk and mastery.

Exhibition Overview

Jake is a photographer and Ben is a sculptor, but their common thread is their originality. They are both trailblazers who pioneer new territory in their respective mediums. The result is work unlike anything else. This exhibition is a rare opportunity to experience bold creative expression born of both risk and mastery.

This is an exhibition for those who value originality, and value things rare and special. The natural world is the root of both artists’ inspiration, and their uniquely conceived artwork is an expression of their relationship to it. In the gallery, the viewer finds the two-dimensional images of Jake’s fine art photographs paired with the three-dimensional sculptures of Ben Roth. Yet none of the pieces could ever be reproduced in a photography laboratory or a foundry; each are one of a kind, entirely unique. Each piece, painstakingly created, is a one-shot, never to be recreated and unlike anything else. The result is an object of rare and precious beauty that reflects the priceless value of the natural world, which inspires these works of art.

BEN ROTH
BURNS HIS SCULPTURE

Ben Roth spends countless hours hand-carving a raven out of reclaimed wood. How does he get the wood to match a raven's true color? He burns it.
